Great tips! I'm a health coach that helps moms with young kids to get their families eating healthy. I'm always suggesting substitutions. I love the ideas you had for going out to eat.

Just seen your video today and just wondering how you been doing on your healthier eating habits? I mean off camera, let's face it the stuff you make isn't always the healthiest. I just came your channel just a few weeks ago. Don't get me wrong though, I absolutely enjoy all your videos. Keep up the good work. Maybe you can do an up dated video on how your doing.

Hey Jack, my last comment said that you're a douche and you will die soon eating like this. Looking at this channel lately I can see you're trying eating healthy and loose some weight so I'm sorry. Try not exceeding 2k calories a day. Green coffee helps a lot too, hope you read some about it.

Eat healthy dont eat scrubway. My sugar was running over 300 so instead of taking medication i decided to cut sugar out and most carbs and this morning my sugar tested 199 and only 6 days of doing this.

For subway, look at the serving sizes. There was more of the "healthy" and less of the "unhealthy" breads.

I found a great bread alternative on "All Day I Dream About food" using almond meal and flax. So easy to make. Low carb is great!! And eating clean. We never eat fast food. I try to make all our food from scratch. It is a good dicipline. Feel much better, happier. Eating clean is cheaper too. Would probably lose more weight except I also make our own beer and wine, ha, ha.

Jack, you know the Laughing Cow cheese wedges? They're about 35 calories a wedge and they spread really well. There's a "lite" version too. Spread that on the bun or bread if you are really craving the cheese on a sandwich or burger. Sometimes that's all I put on, no mayo or ketchup, works with lettuce too. And if I'm really feeling spicy, I mix it in a little bowl with some sirracha!

Come on Jack, you can do it. Back in 2004 I looked down at the bathroom scales and they read 220lbs. I'm 5'9", so that was well overweight. I decided to do something about it. I cut my portions by about 20% and took more, aerobic excercise (read up on that), because that's important: if you want to see results, it has to be a 2-pronged approach. Eat less, move more.

I cycle, but I realise that is A LOT more dangerous in the US than it is over here, so you may want to stick yourself on a stationary bicycle whilst watching TV or go for walking. A brisk 3,5 – 4 mile walk every other day will knock at least half a pound off every forthnight.
Whatevery you do, do it long enough, as it takes 20 minutes of aerobic exercise for your body to start burning fat (that's actually a great motivator, reminding yourself after 20 minutes every calorie you burn from that point forward comes straight out of your body fat) and do it regularly and you're bound to see results. Over a period of just over 18 months I managed to bring my weight down to it's current level of 170-175lbs. Always do this, BTW, always give yourself a target range of weight, so you don't freak out every time you gain an ounce.

As for a healthy eating tip. Always have low calorie fruit or vegetables in the fridge, ready to snack on. You have to make going to the fridge and getting a snack as easy as going to the cupboard and opening a packet of crisps. Cucumber (slice it 2-3mm thick, crack some black pepper on it and add a light sprinkle of good seasalt… delicious and almost calorie-free), broccolli, colliflower, watermelon. Have it in there, requiring as little prep as possible and I guarantee you will snack healthy more often.

Also, before you go thinking I'm some kind of nutrition / exercise nutjob, no, I'm an electronics engineer, working a sitdown job. Just a regular Joe who got gradually heavier and heavier and reached a point where it clicked: I have to actively do something to get my weight down and keep it down. That is a really important lesson we need to internalise and pass on to our kids. The way we live nowadays, it takes effort to keep your weight down. Effort as in food selection and effort as in actual exercise and most of us need to be aware of this. Skinny people just do these things without conciously thinking about it, as it's been their M.O. all their lives. The rest of us need to make an effort.

I'm a vegan and tofu is a great substitute for ricotta cheese (for lasagnas, stuffed shells, ravioli,, etc)
take a block of firm tofu (needs to be firm or extra firm) drain it, and squeeze the extra water out.
In a bowl mix the tofu with salt and pepper, garlic powder, Italian seasonings and some people add a tiny bit of olive oil and use it just like you would ricotta cheese.
also daiya mozzarella cheese is great!
you can also look up how to make your own cheeses using nuts, a lot of them are super simple and easy.
    Good luck on this journey!

My husband eats heart-healthy (where I am more for clean-eating). Anyhow, the thing to really look at is the saturated and trans fats.  I've really been into label reading lately to find a compromise for us both and have been blown away by what I'm learning. The one thing with the multi-grain flatbread is that Dietary Fiber is also 6g.  That's pretty good. Good luck on your goals!

Carbs have tortilla and bread that contain less carbs than regular bread ( Sara Lee 45calorie). No coatings on meat. Lots of veg out there. Tomatoes, cucumbers, green onions, carrots, celery with nothing white. You want healthy, eat at home. No preservatives no chance of someone breathing on your food. I'm not a fruit person but pineapple is good for a day off. No sugar of any kind, the right fats and herbs. I decided that I am not sticking myself with a needle. And my profession is a part time baker and confectionist. Yes I make candy, cakes, pies and pastries. Doesn't mean I have to eat it.

I love dark chocolate and switched to homemade using raw cacoa powder, raw honey and virgin coconut oil. I change it up by adding dried cranberries or walnut pieces or food grade peppermint essential oil to the mix. I keep the chocolate pieces in the fridge and when I get a craving for chocolate I know I'm satisfying it with a healthy choice.

I know we all keep hearing that some food is bad and some food is good. I my opinion thats just full of it there is not such thing of bad or good food its what do to it and how much of it we eat. Any food can be good or bad. So if you just eat fast food and nothing else then yes that's may not be good but if you eat just salad and nothing else to still is just as bad for you. If you don't add exercise in there somewhere then what ever you eat is going to be bad.
